OPENING OF FORESIGHT SESSIONS ON DEVELOPING A REGIONAL WORKFORCE DEMAND MAP AT ZHUBANOVA UNIVERSITY

At Aktobe Regional University named after K. Zhubanova, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Akimat of Aktobe Region, the opening of foresight sessions aimed at creating a system for early workforce preparation in the region took place.

The development of a regional workforce demand map for Aktobe Region is being carried out within the framework of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan's project "My Profession is My Future," as part of the program to increase the population's income by 2029.

During the opening of the foresight session, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sayasat Nurbek, spoke online, noting that currently, workforce demand maps have been developed in five regions.

"This year, nine regional maps are being implemented. Aktobe Region is the sixth region to conduct foresight research. The regional office is based at Zhubanova University. The 'My Profession is My Future' project is aimed at developing an effective system for upgrading workforce qualifications in each region. The goal is to qualitatively forecast the labor market, develop and update educational programs, enhance the career orientation system for students, and create a workforce preparation system in line with the region's economic structure," said the Minister.

The rector of Aktobe Regional University, Laura Karabasova, mentioned that within this important project, which started two years ago, the best and most qualified young specialists from the educational institution have been gathered.

"Our specialists are ready to conduct research on developing a regional workforce map to provide the region with skilled personnel. Intensive work will begin soon," the rector noted.

It is worth mentioning that the selected sectors for Aktobe Region include oil and gas, mining, metallurgy, transportation and logistics, renewable energy, and water management.

There are plans to generate demand for specialists in these priority sectors, provide career orientation for school students in the region, and update the educational programs of universities and colleges.
