1. What is the recognition of educational documents?

Recognition of educational documents is the official validation of documents issued by foreign educational institutions, including their branches, as well as scientific centers and laboratories. The recognition of educational documents is carried out in accordance with the current legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and involves verifying the authenticity of the educational document, confirming that the issuing educational institution (or scientific center, laboratory) had the right to conduct the relevant educational activities at the time of issuance, and conducting an expert evaluation if necessary.

The procedure for the recognition of higher and postgraduate education documents is regulated by the Order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated June 12, 2023, No. 268 "On Approval of the Rules for Recognition of Educational Documents." 

The procedure for the recognition of secondary, technical and vocational, and post-secondary education documents is regulated by the Order of the Minister of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated July 28, 2023, No. 230 "On Approval of the Rules for Recognition of Documents on Secondary, Technical and Vocational, and Post-Secondary Education."

2. Which documents are subject to recognition?

Documents subject to recognition include those related to basic secondary, general secondary, technical and vocational, post-secondary, higher, and postgraduate education obtained by individuals in other countries or at international or foreign educational institutions (including their branches). 

Additionally, individuals with documents pertaining to academic degrees and titles must undergo the recognition process. Furthermore, individuals who wish to continue their education are also required to have their documents recognized.

3. How long does it take to process an application for the recognition of educational documents?

The processing time for an application for the recognition of legalized or apostilled educational documents is:

- 15 (fifteen) business days when applying through the portal 

- 25 (twenty-five) business days when applying through the State Corporation's offices 

 

The processing time for an application for the recognition of non-legalized and non-apostilled educational documents is:

- 35 (thirty-five) business days when applying through the portal 

- 45 (forty-five) business days when applying through the State Corporation's offices

4. Where should one apply for document recognition?

To obtain the service, you need to submit an application along with the required documents through the "e-Gov" web portal or through the non-commercial joint-stock company "State Corporation 'Government for Citizens'."
