A seminar on the internal quality assurance system of higher education was held at Astana IT University
On March 29, 2024, the Higher Education Development National Center and Astana IT University held an interactive seminar for heads of quality assurance departments of universities on the topic “Internal quality assurance system of higher education: a view from all sides”.
The event was opened with a welcoming speech by the director of the National Center for the Development of Higher Education, Yermek Makash.
The meeting was attended by heads of quality assurance departments of the country's universities, representatives of accreditation bodies, the Committee for Higher and Postgraduate Education and the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The seminar was held in an interesting RMD (Research. Modeling. Discussion) format: 1) scientific part; 2) academic part and 3) discussion part. The event also marked the opening of the Laboratory for Quality Assurance of Higher Education Development National Center.
In the discussion part on the topic “The relationship between the university, accreditation bodies and government agencies: allies or opponents?” Discussors were the scientific director of the program-targeted financing project to increase the competitiveness of universities in Kazakhstan through reengineering of the national quality assurance system of higher education Aidos Mukhatayev (scientist), director of the Quality Assurance Department of Astana IT University Khanat Kasenov (university representative), director of the Independent Agency for Accreditation and Rating Alina Zhumagulova and the director of the Independent Kazakhstan Center for Accreditation, Begaly Khalmuratov (representatives of accreditation bodies), and the deputy chairman of the Committee for Higher Education of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Gulzhan Dzharasova, and the head of the department of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Science and Higher Education, Elvira Saparbekova, spoke on behalf of the government body.
The moderators were acting Rector of Astana IT University Serik Omirbayev and scientific director of the program-targeted financing project to increase the competitiveness of universities in Kazakhstan through reengineering of the national system for ensuring the quality of higher education Aidos Mukhatayev.
Based on the results of the discussion, the participants came to the conclusion that issues of internal quality assurance of higher education are an important component for all parties and it is necessary, within the laboratory, to continue work on research and methodological support of the quality assurance system of higher education in Kazakhstan.
